General Role

The Principal is the Executive Head of Cumilla Medical College and is responsible for the overall academic and administrative leadership of the College. The Principal implements the policies, rules, regulations, and directives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and other competent authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and ensure the smooth functioning of academic and administrative activities.
• Serve as the Chairman of the Academic Council, the highest academic body of the College.
• Ensure proper implementation of academic programmes, institutional policies, and regulations.
• Chair the Disciplinary Committee and oversee institutional discipline and a conducive academic environment.
• Provide overall support and oversight for Quality Assurance activities, academic coordination, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
• Support the activities of the Medical Education Unit (MEU), faculty development, modern teaching, and assessment methods.
• Promote effective coordination among academic departments, committees, phase coordinators, and other institutional bodies.
• Provide administrative oversight for student welfare, hostel administration, and student support services.
• Support the development and effective utilization of educational facilities, including seminar halls, skills laboratories, and other teaching resources.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, academic excellence, research, ethical practice, and continuous institutional improvement.

Overall Accountability

The Principal shall provide effective institutional leadership to ensure that Cumilla Medical College maintains high standards of medical education, academic governance, student welfare, discipline, quality assurance, and institutional development.
